One thing I'd like to see is the ability to deleete accounts. If a user no longer wants to use the site, why is his account kept up? I think that if you no longer want to use the site, you should be able to deleete your account. What are your thoughts?
my thoughts are, just no.
firstly if you don't want to use the zone, don't log in. also, take all the information out your profile so that if you don't want others getting hold of it, you're perfictly safe there.
also this has been suggested before, and correct me if i'm wrong but i think the reason acounts arn't removed is because it messes up the user ID numbers for each individual person, lol... i can never find user ID 15 though haha

well I think it's a good idea, I mean if new people need to sign up they can do like they do on telespace and give someone that id number
Yes, the reason that accounts aren't deleted is because of the user ID's and such. Even if your account is banned permanently here, we just disable it. IT's still there. I also suspect that we'd see an increase of abuse of the system and duplicate accounts and all that.
If we aren't using the zone, why should we care whether our account is deleted?

I understand that point of view actually, wanting your account deleted not just disabled. But then there's that whole abuse possibility...so possibly a big mess? But maybe we could just try it for a week and see what happens? Let users delete their accounts, hope for the best. If it doesn't work out, go back to just disabling not deleting? Maybe? Or was this attempted already? I don't know but on all other online community sites you're allowed to delete your account so I think you should be able to do the same on here too. Just my thoughts.
Added to the reasons that Miah and Bob posted, there are those who will delete their accounts when they get pissed off because of a reason of drama or something or other. Well, they get pissed off, then they delete, and then, they do one of the following:
1. They start telling the CL's that they made a big mistake and they want their account back because they deleted because of a state of heightened emotion like anger or whatnot. We all know of the bashing that takes place on this site, and the constant rants of "I'm leaving the site forever and ever" that you constantly hear from those users who are being bashed, and then they come back a day later.
2. They decide to start all over and as the others said, create a new account.
The idea is a nice thought, but one that could easily be abused, and cause more headaches than it's worth in the long run in my opinion.
I think you should be able to delete your account. If you don't want your account, that's your choice! Then your name won't even appear in the list of profiles. You can delete your account on twitter so why can't you delete your account on the zone bbs. It's basically the same thing.
i don't think deleting accounts completely is a good idea because that would mess up the user ID system. however, there could be an option on the edit account page to close ur account. then the following would happen:
u would have to wait a minimum of 7 days before u can re-open your account.
if u re-opened ur account within 30 days, ur account would be restored to exactly the way it was before u closed it.
if u re-open ur account after 30 days, the following would happen:
all ur private messages would be deleted
all information on ur profile (including audio profile) would be deleted
all ur usable points would be made unusable
all users on ur ignore list who u are not actually ignoring would be removed
all users on ur person watch list would be removed
u would need to re-verify ur email address
all board posts and graffiti posts would still remain on the site. but u would have the board title "account closed" below ur name on the boards. also, if someone were to view ur profile, it would just say "this account has been closed".

To the person who started this topic, I think you need to learn to spell delete. That's what I think. :)
I like Pc's idea. If you disable yoru acocunt and ot del it and you do come back after 30 or 90 days, then eather your account is reset to 0, and I mean everything in your profile except your birthday.
